In my company’s Sharepoint, there are thousands of folder structures. The way we operate, files and folders are added daily. I have a shortcut of the Sharepoint folder linked to my OneDrive.

On both windows and MacOS, the sync is seamless. If I add a folder to Sharepoint online, it shows up within the file structure of Windows Explorer or Finder within seconds.

However, on iOS and iPadOS, these folders do not readily sync. I go into my OneDrive app, and go to the subfolder where I added the new folder and files. After days of waiting, swiping down forcing refresh, “reset account” in the settings, cleared cached, signed in and out, and nothing is fixing this. App is the latest version.

I have screenshots of folders from the SharePoint website, and from the OneDrive app on iPadOS26. The folder “2024-XX-XX” exists on the OneDrive app (this was deleted months ago online), and the “2025-12-12” exists on the SharePoint online site, but not on the OneDrive. It shows the OneDrive app is not syncing properly.

It’s like using SharePoint through OneDrive is just a barrier. Going onto a web browser on the iPad is easier to use SharePoint than either the SharePoint app or OneDrive. The user experience shouldn’t be worse to use an app dedicated to the software. It should be better, and seamless.

    Dear @Rmendoza

Good day! Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum!

Based on your description, I understand that you’re experiencing an issue where SharePoint folders aren’t fully syncing in the OneDrive app on iOS and iPadOS. Even though changes appear instantly on Windows and macOS, new folders and updates from SharePoint aren’t showing up on your mobile devices, even after refreshing, clearing cache, resetting the account, and reinstalling the app. Your screenshots also show outdated folders appearing in OneDrive on iOS while newer folders from SharePoint never sync, which suggests the OneDrive app isn’t updating properly.

I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused by this issue. Also, thank you for taking the time to do the troubleshooting steps.

Regarding your situation, please kindly try the following suggestions to check what might have caused the issue:

    • Please remove the existing SharePoint shortcut from OneDrive.
    • Then ask the SharePoint site owner to temporarily remove your permission and re‑share the folder with you.
    • After that, recreate the shortcut in OneDrive and check if syncing is working properly
    • If the folder still doesn’t sync correctly after these steps, you can proceed with opening a support ticket so that the backend team could investigate further via a remote session to help you with this issue.

Besides, here's an article for reference: Restrictions and limitations when you sync SharePoint libraries to your computer through OneDrive for work or school

Kindly let me know when there are updates or if you need further assistance. Any updates you’re able to share would be really helpful. I appreciate your time and look forward to hearing how things are going!

Thank you for your time and patience.
