We are experiencing an issue with the current version of M365 in Excel regarding downloading documents via WebDAV. In Word, the documents are downloaded and opened, but in Excel an error message with the path is displayed. If the path is entered in Edge, the document is found and downloaded. Excel (version 2509) consistently shows only an error message without opening the document, whereas version 2403 opens the document directly from the same path without any error message.

The issue you are experiencing with Excel not opening documents downloaded via WebDAV, while Word works correctly, may be related to the configuration of the server or the settings in Excel. Since you mentioned that the error only occurs in version 2509 of Excel and not in version 2403, it could indicate a regression or a change in how Excel handles WebDAV connections in the newer version.

To troubleshoot this issue, consider the following steps:

    1. Check for Updates: Ensure that your version of Excel (2509) is fully updated. Sometimes, issues are resolved in subsequent patches.
    2. Clear Cache: Clear any cached data in Excel that might be causing conflicts with the WebDAV connection.
    3. Test with Different Paths: If possible, test with different WebDAV paths to see if the issue is consistent across all paths or specific to certain ones.
    4. Network Configuration: Verify that there are no network issues or configurations that might be affecting Excel's ability to connect to the WebDAV server.
    5. SSL Configuration: If your WebDAV server supports SSL, ensure that Excel is configured to use HTTPS instead of HTTP, as some versions of Office applications may have restrictions on non-SSL connections.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, you may want to report the problem to Microsoft support for further assistance, especially since it appears to be a version-specific issue.

    Hello @abdo elbarbary,

Thank you for reaching out to the Q&A forum!

To support you better, please provide me more detail:

1.I noticed you tagged this under “business.” Can you confirm if your account is a work account managed by your organization?

2.Can you share a screenshot of the error message shown in Excel 2509?

Note: I will help you blur or hide any personal information if needed.

3.To help me reproduce the issue in my test environment, could you let us know how you are opening the file?

4.What is the WebDAV path format you are using?

5.Which update channel is Excel 2509 on?  (Current Channel, Monthly Enterprise Channel, or another channel?)

Please understand that our initial response may not always resolve the issue immediately. However, with your help and more detailed information, we can work together to identify the root cause and find a solution.

Looking forward to hearing from you.
