For the last two days I’ve started getting frequent crashes in FiveM of the exit trap type, which are most often associated with overlay applications. I decided to check Event Viewer to see what’s happening at the exact moment of the crash, and I noticed that every time FiveM crashes, the Event Viewer shows this error:

DistributedCOM 10010 error — The server Windows.Gaming.GameBar.PresenceServer.Internal.PresenceWriter did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.

I really don’t know what to do to disable this service completely — I didn’t even have Xbox services installed on my PC. All of this started two days ago after Windows installed an update; I didn’t know what else to do. I just want my game to work like before.

Here is the link to a file that gets created at the moment of the crash in FiveM: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1K_A5sCPFx1_vKywPBPKf2Z9MWKiLB3Y0/view?usp=sharing

To address the DistributedCOM 10010 error related to the Windows Gaming GameBar, you can try the following steps:

    1. Check for Windows Updates: Ensure that your system is fully updated. Sometimes, Microsoft releases patches that can resolve issues related to DCOM errors.
    2. Modify DCOM Configuration:
      • Press Win + R, type dcomcnfg, and press Enter.
      • In the Component Services window, navigate to Component Services > Computers > My Computer > DCOM Config.
      • Look for the entry named Windows.Gaming.GameBar.PresenceServer.Internal.PresenceWriter.
      • Right-click on it and select Properties.
      • Go to the Security tab and adjust the permissions for Launch and Activation Permissions, Access Permissions, and Configuration Permissions. Ensure that your user account has the necessary permissions.
    3. Disable Game Bar: If you do not use the Game Bar, you can disable it:
      • Go to Settings > Gaming > Xbox Game Bar.
      • Toggle the switch to Off.
    4. Reinstall Xbox Game Bar: If the issue persists, consider reinstalling the Xbox Game Bar. You can do this via the Microsoft Store.
    5. Check for Overlay Applications: Since you mentioned crashes in FiveM associated with overlay applications, ensure that any overlay applications (like Discord, GeForce Experience, etc.) are updated or temporarily disabled to see if they are causing conflicts.
    6. Event Viewer Analysis: Continue to monitor the Event Viewer for any additional errors that might provide more context on the crashes.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, you may need to consider reaching out to Microsoft Support for further assistance.
