Hi Amadeu Narendra,
Welcome to Microsoft Q&A Forum! Have a good day and I hope you're doing well!
I completely understand how frustrating it can be to run into a 500 – Something went wrong error when trying to access Outlook on the web, especially when you need access urgently. Thank you for sharing the error details. Based on my experience, I’d recommend checking a few things below to help narrow down the cause and resolve the issue:
I. Double‑check the license assigned to the user
First, please verify that the affected user still has an active license assigned and that the license includes access to Exchange Online / Outlook on the web. In some cases, a license may be present but does not include web access, or recent license changes may not have fully synchronized yet.
II. Make sure Outlook on the web is enabled in the Exchange Admin Center
Outlook on the web can be disabled at the mailbox level. You can confirm and re‑enable it by following these steps:
5.Ensure Outlook on the web is turned on, then click Save.
After saving, wait a few minutes and try accessing Outlook on the web again.
III. Review the roles assigned to the user
Based on my experience, assigning too many roles to a user especially overlapping admin roles can sometimes cause permission conflicts and lead to unexpected access issues. It’s a good idea to review the current role assignments and keep only the roles that are truly necessary to allow proper access while avoiding potential conflicts.
If you’re an end user, I recommend reaching out to your IT administrator or internal IT department to help verify these settings on your behalf. Many of the checks above, such as license assignments, mailbox settings, and role configurations, require administrative access and cannot be validated from an end user account. Your IT team should be able to review and adjust these configurations to ensure Outlook on the web is accessible again.
