To insert the multiplication symbol (×), you can use an Alt code. Please follow the steps below: 

1. Ensure that Num Lock is enabled on your keyboard. 
2. Click into the Excel cell where you want to insert the symbol. 
3. Press and hold the Alt key. 
4. Using the numeric keypad (numpad), type 0215. 
5. Release the Alt key. 

The multiplication sign (×) will then appear in the cell. 

Please note that this method requires a keyboard with a dedicated numeric keypad; typing the numbers from the top row of the keyboard will not work for Alt codes.
