Same issue here. Annoying. I get the issue is not on user side, an ETA for a fix would be appreciated.

Same problem and it's now Jan 3. I buy 365 exclusively for this function. Very disappointed.

last time this happened it did take multiple days, it appears based on some of the time stamps of global users, this is already past a 24 hour issue. it always DOES get resolved, my guess worst case scenario it will be Saturday. Yahoo Finance used to be the go to backup, but now Yahoo makes you have to pay to get similar data (you have to manually download it into a CSV). anyways, patience is probably needed. annoying, yes, but it will get fixed - always does.

    Dear @Hwy17 and everyone,

First of all, I’m truly sorry for the inconvenience this issue has caused. I completely understand how inconvenient when STOCKHISTORY suddenly stops working without warning. Thank you for your patience while working through this.

Therefore, I would make a brief summary of this post so that other forum members could easily find useful information here:

    Issue Description:

    • The Excel STOCKHISTORY function stopped working on January 1st, 2026. Other users have also reported the same issue around the same time, indicating it was likely a temporary service‑side disruption with Microsoft’s stock data provider.

    Recommended Steps to Try

    • Step 1: Test in Excel for the Web or a New File
    • Step 2: Refresh Your Excel Session
      • Sign out of Excel: File > Account > Sign out > Close Excel completely > Restart your computer > Open Excel and sign back in
    • Step 3: Repair Microsoft Office Apps. For more tips, see Repair an Office application.
    • Step 4: Report a Problem (Go to Excel > Help > Feedback > Report a problem)
      • If the problem continues, I recommend you report an issue directly inside the Excel app so the Microsoft product team can review the logs and investigate the behavior mor e accurately.

    Current Update (Good News)

    • Based on feedback from other users experiencing the same outage, the STOCKHISTORY function is now working again and has been restored on Microsoft’s side.

Again, I truly appreciate your patience and understanding. Please understand that as forum moderator, my primary goal is to provide helpful guidance and support through general troubleshooting steps. While I don’t have access to internal systems or test devices required to resolve backend issues, I truly appreciate your understanding of these limitations. I genuinely hope the information I share helps guide you in the right direction, and I'm always here to assist as much as I can within my scope.

I hope this information is helpful. If you have any further questions or need clarification, please feel free to reach out.

Thank you for your patience and your understanding.

If the STOCKHISTORY function in Excel is not working, there could be several reasons for this issue. Here are some common troubleshooting steps you can take:

    1. Check Internet Connection: Ensure that your internet connection is stable, as the STOCKHISTORY function requires access to online data.
    2. Excel Updates: Make sure that your Excel application is updated to the latest version. Sometimes, bugs in older versions can cause functions to fail.
    3. Function Syntax: Verify that the syntax of the STOCKHISTORY function is correct. Ensure that you are using the correct parameters for the function, such as the stock symbol, start date, and end date.
    4. Service Availability: Occasionally, the data service that provides stock history may experience outages or maintenance. Check if there are any announcements regarding service interruptions.
    5. Excel Limits: If you are trying to pull a large amount of data, ensure that you are not exceeding any limits set by Excel for data retrieval.

If the problem persists after these checks, consider reaching out to Microsoft support for further assistance.
