I have regularly imported SVG files into powerpoint and converted them to shapes that are then editable in previous versions of powerpoint. However, after updating to version 2511 (powerpoint 2025/2026) this feature is no longer visible in the top left corner of the graphics format menu or when I right click on the graphic. Is this feature still available? Is there a new way of accessing it?

I'm not seeing any such issue in PowerPoint Version 2511 (Build 19426.20218 Click-to-Run). SVGs ungroup as always.

To fix the error in your installation, please run an Office Repair. The Online Repair option is more thorough.

Thanks for sharing the details! Try to force PowerPoint to Re-interpret the SVG

This restores full shape conversion inside PowerPoint itself.

    Steps

    • Insert the SVG normally Insert → Pictures → This Device
    • Select the SVG
    • Press Ctrl + X (Cut)
    • Immediately press Ctrl + V (Paste)
    • Now right-click → Ungroup

In many cases, Ungroup reappears only after re-pasting

PowerPoint re-renders the SVG as an internal DrawingML object instead of a “protected graphic”.

See if this helps. If you need further assistance just let me know.

    Best regards,

    Kimberly

    Convert SVG → EMF Automatically

    Quick workflow

    • Use CloudConvert / Inkscape CLI

    Convert SVG → EMF

    Insert EMF into PowerPoint

    Right-click → Ungroup

This bypasses the SVG engine entirely.

Open the SVG file in Edge or Chrome

    Select the SVG → Ctrl + C

    In PowerPoint:

    • Home → Paste ▼ → Paste Special
    • Choose Picture (Enhanced Metafile)

Right-click the pasted image → Ungroup

    Confirm twice
