Hello There,

I encountered a situation where the switch to mode is disabled in edit table properties tab in SSAS tabular model as shown in the screenshot below; I notice this difference in comparison to a youtube video, where the edit-tab /window got more options.

Would anyone please help me understand what makes the difference with options and edit window?

The screenshot from your project is using a modern or "structured" data source. The one from youtube is using an older legacy data source.

You can read more about legacy data sources here https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/analysis-services/analysis-services-datasource#specify-provider-data-sources-in-tabular-1400-and-higher-model-projects

    Hi @ArunRaaman ,

    Thanks for your posting.

Could you please check which version of Visual Studio do you use? Though I tested in my VS2017, I can switch to table preview. But I found a feedback about this issue, and there has a workaround can fix it. Please refer to this link.

In addition, the first query which is in your VS is M code. For more information, please refer to this blog.

    Best regards,
    Carrin
