Regarding your issue, the automatic upgrade to Microsoft Copilot on Microsoft 365 for Mac is processed through your Microsoft account. Refunds and plan changes depend on the cancellation window and where the subscription was purchased. If you want to revert to Microsoft 365 Classic before your renewal in February, you’ll need to cancel the Copilot upgrade and switch plans.
Here are a few steps you can try:
- Cancel the Copilot upgrade
- Sign in at: https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=2246882
- Locate your Copilot or upgraded Microsoft 365 subscription.
- Choose Cancel subscription and follow the prompts.
- If you purchased through Apple’s App Store, request the refund directly from Apple Support.

- Check Refund Eligibility
- Most regions allow refunds if you cancel within 14 days of purchase.
- Some countries (e.g., Canada, Korea, Turkey) allow prorated refunds anytime.

- Switch to Microsoft 365 Classic
- After canceling Copilot, purchase the Classic plan (Personal or Family) from: https://account.microsoft.com/services
- Use the same Microsoft account so any remaining time converts to your new plan.

- Turn Off Recurring Billing
- If you’re outside the refund window, disable recurring billing to avoid future charges and then switch plans at renewal.
