Send from alias name

Question

IF we have alias name on the exchange user, can we send email using this alias name?

Yes, you can send emails using an alias name in Exchange. When the Set-OrganizationConfig -SendFromAliasEnabled $true cmdlet is set, users within the organization can select their aliases in Outlook settings. This allows them to send emails from their aliases, which will appear in the From dropdown in the Compose form in Outlook on the web. However, it's important to note that in Outlook desktop, the primary email alias will be used when replying to emails.

Based on my research, the Send as Alias feature is currently supported only in Exchange Online and is not available in Exchange Server environments. 

That said, as a workaround for Exchange Server, you could consider the following approaches: 

• Grant Send As permission to a shared mailbox for sending.
• If you have an Edge Transport Server, you can use Address Rewriting procedures to modify the email address that appears on the recipient’s side for specific users.
