Dear Kevin Desouza,
Thank you for your question and for sharing the details into Microsoft Q&A Forum.
I understand you’d like to share your Minecraft: Java & Bedrock for PC purchase so you and your friend can play on separate accounts, with achievements and progress saved to each of your own profiles.
I know this isn't the news you were hoping for, but on Windows PC, Microsoft Store game licenses are generally tied to the Microsoft account that owns the purchase, so another account typically can’t play the game unless that account also has a valid license. For Minecraft on PC, the Microsoft account you sign into Minecraft with must have access to/own the Minecraft license.
Because of that, what you’re asking for is not supported as a “share to friends” feature on PC, your friend will generally need their own copy/license on their own Microsoft account to play and track achievements separately.
Xbox has a console feature (Home Xbox) that can share games with other profiles on the same console. However, that specific Home Xbox sharing model is for Xbox consoles, and it doesn’t work the same way for sharing a Microsoft Store PC purchase to a friend’s separate account.
How you can play together with separate progress
- Buy or gift a copy so your friend redeems it on their own Microsoft account, then signs in to the Minecraft Launcher with that account.
- Or use PC Game Pass (where available), which includes Minecraft: Java & Bedrock for PC; your friend subscribes and signs in with their own account.
I hope this helps you move forward quickly so you can start playing together soon. Thank you so much for your understanding.
