I have a parent account and a child account in Microsoft Family Safety that is used for the child's Windows 11 PC. Minecraft is installed on the PC. The child wants to add a friend in Minecraft. I am unable to access multiplayer in Minecraft, because Family Safety does not control multiplayer access and Xbox Family does this. I added my parent account to Xbox Family, but cannot add my child's Family Safety account to Xbox Family.

    Hello Jasper Sallak,

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.

I understand that you'd like to know how to let your son send friend request on Minecraft. If he is in your Microsoft account family group, you will need to change his Xbox profile privacy settings.

    • Go to xbox.com/privacy and log in with the parent account.
    • Find your child's gamertag in the profile list and select it.
    • Switch to "Windows 10 and Xbox Online privacy settings.
    • Make sure "... can join multiplayer games", "... can send friend request" and "... can join cross-network play" is set to Allow.
    • Scroll down and click "Submit" to save the change.

In xbox Family app, it will not accept use of child's existing outlook.com email that is used in Family Safety app. The Xbox Family app insists on a unique account.

Why must I create two separate child accounts, one for Family Safety and one for Xbox Family?
