Hello,

I am unable to add my custom domain to my Microsoft 365 tenant. Each time I try to verify the domain, I get the following error: “Your domain cannot be added to Microsoft 365 at this time. Please contact support and reference message code: 715-456280 Event ID: [Moderator note: personal info removed]

I already created the required DNS records. The TXT, MX and CNAME entries are correctly propagated. According to Microsoft documentation and other Q&A answers, error 715-456280 requires backend investigation from Microsoft Support, because it may be caused by the domain still being associated with another tenant or an internal blocking condition.

Can you please escalate this issue or confirm that I must open a support ticket directly?

Thank you.

    Dear @Othmane Bennani,

Good day. Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum!

I understand this can be frustrating, especially since you’ve already added the DNS TXT record. The error code 715-456280 and the Event ID indicate that Microsoft is currently unable to detect or process the verification record for your domain.

To help you move forward, please double-check the following steps first:

    • TXT Value: Ensure the TXT value is entered exactly as provided, with no extra characters or extra spaces.
    • TXT Name/Host: Some DNS providers require using @ or your full domain name in the Host field.
    • External Check: Use an external DNS lookup tool to confirm that the correct MS= value is publicly visible.

If everything looks correct and the issue still persists after a few hours, the next step is to contact Microsoft 365 Business Technical Support. Since the TXT record is already replicated online, the error is likely occurring within Microsoft’s verification system.

I recommend opening a service request through the Admin Center:

    1. Sign in to the Microsoft 365 Admin Center
    2. Go to Help & Support > New service request.

Important: Please provide the support team with the following details:

    • Reference Code: 715-456280
    • Event ID: (paste the ID here)

These codes will help Microsoft Support quickly locate the logs for your domain verification attempt.

If you need any further clarification, I’ll be happy to assist however I can. Thank you very much for your valuable time and your cooperation.

Wishing you a great day ahead!

Error 715-456280 typically indicates that there is an issue with the domain you are trying to add, which may be related to it being associated with another tenant or due to an internal blocking condition. Since you have already created the necessary DNS records and they are correctly propagated, the next step is to contact Microsoft Support directly for further assistance. They will be able to investigate the backend issues related to this error code and provide you with the necessary guidance to resolve it.

It is advisable to open a support ticket as you mentioned, as this is the appropriate course of action for such errors that require backend investigation.
