With subscription licenses, you can always install Office on multiple devices. (This doesn't apply to those subscriptions that only include the web apps and the mobile apps and provides OneDrive storage, such as 365 Basic, though.)

The limitation is with the number of simultaneous activated devices. However, you should be able to run five computers and five mobile devices.

You can install Office 365 on up to five devices using the same Microsoft 365 subscription. Here’s how you can do it:

    1. Sign in to your account: Go to the Microsoft 365 portal and sign in with your Microsoft account.
    2. Start Installation: On the home page, select Install Office.
    3. Run the Installer: After it is downloaded, run the installer:
      • For Windows: Open the downloaded file (usually named Setup.exe) and follow the on-screen instructions.
      • For Mac: Open the downloaded .pkg file and follow the on-screen instructions.
    4. Follow the Prompts: The installer will guide you through the installation process. Follow the prompts to complete the installation.
    5. Activate Office: Once installed, open any Office app and sign in with your Microsoft account to activate.

Repeat these steps on each of the five devices you wish to install Office 365 on.

    Hi @Terri Hughes,

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Thank you very much for reaching out regarding the installation of Office 365 on additional devices. I truly appreciate you taking the time to contact me with your question.

I’m happy to confirm that with most Microsoft 365 subscriptions, you can install and use Office on up to 5 devices at the same time, as long as you sign in using the same Microsoft account associated with your subscription. This can include PCs, Macs, tablets, and smartphones.

To install Office 365 on another device, I have outlined the available options in detail:

1/ If your license is linked to a personal Microsoft account

    • Please sign in at account.microsoft.com/services using the email address you used for activation.
    • Under Services & Subscriptions, you should see your Office or Publisher license. From there, you can download and install the software on your new PC.
    • You can also manage or remove existing device installations from this page if you have reached the 5‑device limit.

2/ If your license is linked to a company account

If your subscription was provided by your organization (Microsoft 365 Business or Enterprise), please note that Microsoft 365 Business Basic and some web-only licenses do not include desktop Office applications and only provide access to Office on the web.

    • So if your license includes desktop apps (for example: Business Standard, Business Premium, or Enterprise plans), you can install Office by signing in to https://portal.office.com
    • Then go to Apps > All apps > Install apps.
    • User's image
    • If you are unsure about your license type, you may go directly to the Subscriptions page to review your license details at: https://portal.office.com/account

For detailed guidance, you can refer to this Microsoft's article: Download and install apps - Microsoft Support.

I hope this information is helpful. Should you have any further questions or need additional assistance, feel free to reach out.

I look forward to hearing your thoughts on this.
