    Dear Lea England

Thank you for your question and for sharing the details into Microsoft Q&A Forum.

I understand you’re seeing a red exclamation mark on the Microsoft Teams icon and would like to clear it to ensure nothing is being missed. First, please take a moment to review the AI response and the Independent Advisor’s answer in this thread as well, they include helpful checks that are worth trying. Then to help identify what Teams is flagging, could you please:

    • share a screenshot showing the Teams icon with the red exclamation mark (and, if possible, the Teams window after you click the icon)?
    • confirm whether you are using a Teams personal account (Microsoft account) or a work/school account?

In the meantime, please try the basic troubleshooting steps below:

    1. Open Teams and check for any in-app alert
    • Click the Teams icon to open the app.
    • Look for any banner/notification at the top (sign-in, connectivity, update prompts, etc.).
    • Check Activity and Chat for any items requiring attention.
    1. Fully quit Teams and reopen
    • Right-click the Teams icon in the system tray and select Quit.
    • Open Task Manager and ensure Teams is not running (end task if it is).
    • Launch Teams again from the Start menu.
    1. Verify sign-in status
    • In Teams, click your profile picture.
    • If you see any sign-in/reconnect prompt, please Sign out and then Sign in again.
    1. Check for updates and restart Teams
    • In Teams, select Settings and more (…).
    • Check for any Update option (or allow Teams to complete updates if prompted).
    • Restart Teams afterward.
    1. Clear Teams cache
    1. Repair/Reset Teams (if still not cleared)
    • Go to Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
    • Select Microsoft Teams > Advanced options.
    • Click Repair first.
    • If the icon still shows the red exclamation mark, click Reset, then open Teams again.

I hope these steps help clear the Teams warning icon and refresh the app’s local cache successfully. Wishing you a smooth experience while Teams rebuilds the cache after restarting.

    Hello !

A red triangle on Teams icon means there’s an issue with your account, and you need to reauthenticate. Usually, you can correct it by signing out of Teams, and log back in.

Please let me know if you have any questions !

To clear the red exclamation mark icon in Microsoft Teams, it typically indicates a notification or alert that requires your attention. Here are some steps you can take to resolve this:

    1. Check Notifications: Click on the Teams icon and check for any unread messages or notifications that may be causing the alert.
    2. Clear Messages: If there are messages that need to be addressed, read or respond to them to clear the notification.
    3. Restart Teams: Sometimes, simply restarting the Teams application can help clear any persistent notifications.
    4. Check Settings: Ensure that your notification settings are configured correctly. You can adjust these in the Teams settings under the "Notifications" section.
    5. Update Teams: Make sure you are using the latest version of Teams, as updates can fix bugs that may cause icons to display incorrectly.

If the issue persists, you might want to consult the Teams support documentation or community forums for further assistance.
