    Hi Jim Snodgrass,

Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A Forum. I understand that the mouse or touch input is not working on your Lenovo Yoga after the I2C HID device was uninstalled, and you are looking for a way to reinstall it.

Please make sure you already tried the Q&A Assist steps. In addition, I’d like to narrow this down a bit:

    1. Are you facing issue with external mouse or with your touchpad?
    2. Does the mouse or I2C-related device still appear under Human Interface Devices in Device Manager, even with an error icon?

In the meantime, you can try these steps:

    1, Open Device Manager

    • Select View, then enable Show hidden devices
    • Expand Human Interface Devices and System devices
    • If you see HID-compliant touch pad or Intel I2C Controller with a warning icon, right-click it and select Enable device

2, Trigger driver reinstallation via Windows Update

    • Open Settings
    • Go to Windows Update
    • Select Advanced options
    • Select Optional updates
    • Install any available driver updates related to HID, I2C, chipset, or mouse
    • Restart the device

3, Reinstall the I2C controller from System devices

    • In Device Manager, expand System devices
    • Right-click any Intel I2C Controller entries and select Uninstall device
    • Restart the device and allow Windows to reinstall them automatically

    1

Is that an external mouse or the internal touchpad on your laptop that is not working?

    2

Open Device Manager, then at the top, select View - Show Hidden Devices

Expand the 'Mice and other pointing devices' section.

Please provide a screenshot of that Device Manager window.

    3

Click your Start BUtton, then just type msinfo and press Enter, please provide a screenshot of the resulting System Information window.

To reinstall the I2C HID driver on your Lenovo Yoga, you can follow these steps:

    1. Open Device Manager: Right-click on the Start button and select "Device Manager" from the menu.
    2. Scan for Hardware Changes: In Device Manager, click on the "Action" menu at the top and select "Scan for hardware changes." This should prompt Windows to detect the missing I2C HID device and automatically reinstall the driver.
    3. Check for Updates: If the driver does not reinstall automatically, you can check for updates. Right-click on the device (if it appears with an error) and select "Update driver." Choose the option to search automatically for updated driver software.
    4. Download Drivers Manually: If the above steps do not work, you may need to visit the Lenovo support website to download the latest drivers for your device manually.
    5. Restart Your Computer: After reinstalling the driver, restart your computer to ensure the changes take effect.

If you continue to experience issues, consider checking the HID I2C device firmware or the ACPI firmware for any configuration problems.
