Feature Request — Syntax Highlighting for Code Blocks in Copilot Android App

Hi Copilot team,

I’d like to request first‑class syntax highlighting in code blocks inside the Microsoft Copilot Android app. Currently, the mobile interface renders code in plain text with no colourisation, which makes Python and other languages harder to read.

This feature would:

  • Significantly improve the programming experience on Android
  • Increase visual clarity and trust in AI‑generated code
  • Enhance Copilot’s competitiveness relative to other AI chat apps (most of which now support syntax highlighting on mobile)
  • Better align the mobile UX with the desktop/web Copilot experience

Given how much code Copilot generates, this improvement would be immediately and widely beneficial.

Thanks for considering it — happy to provide examples or test on Android hardware.

Currently, the Microsoft 365 Copilot app does not mention support for syntax highlighting in code blocks specifically for the Android version. However, the desktop and web versions of Copilot have features that enhance the programming experience, such as colorized code completions with syntax highlighting to improve readability. This feature is particularly beneficial for languages like C#, and there are plans to extend support to more languages in the future.

While your request for first-class syntax highlighting in the Android app is valid and would enhance the user experience, there is no current information on when or if this feature will be implemented in the mobile version.

It's great to see user feedback being forwarded for consideration, as it helps improve the product based on user needs.
