How do I change the program that opens attachments on emails?

Please check on Q&A Assist's response - you might need to specify more about the attachment types, depending on it is a document, or an image, or something else.

Here is the screenshot of Settings > Apps > Default Apps:

For example, if it is a link, it should end as *.html file, you could change it to your preferred browser after searching for the word "html". This could result in opening any links in the browser you have chosen.

To change the program that opens attachments in Outlook, you generally need to adjust the default application settings in your Windows operating system. Here are the steps you can follow:

1. Open Settings: Go to the Start menu and select Settings.
2. Apps: Click on Apps and then select Default apps.
3. Choose Default Apps by File Type: Scroll down to find the option to set defaults by file type. Here, you can see the list of file types and the applications currently set to open them.
4. Change the Default Program: Find the file type for the attachment you want to change (e.g., .pdf, .docx) and click on the current default app. A list of available applications will appear. Select the program you want to use to open that file type.
5. Close Settings: Once you have made your selections, you can close the Settings window.

After completing these steps, the next time you open an attachment of that file type in Outlook, it should open with the newly selected program.
