Using Outlook for iOS for personal email and calendar management
Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Q&A Forum. I know it’s frustrating when Outlook accepts your email but doesn’t move forward to the password screen.
I can see there’s a Q&A Assist reply under your post. To avoid repeating it, could you tell me whether you’ve tried those steps yet, and what happens when you try?
In addition, here's what you can try next:
1. Try signing in using Outlook on the web
- Sign in to the same email account via a browser: https://outlook.live.com
- If the web loads normally, the issue is likely app‑related.
2. Rule out a connection/VPN issue
Temporarily turn off VPN/Proxy (if used) and try again on a different network (switching between Wi‑Fi and cellular).
3. Force-close Outlook mobile app and retry the sign-in
On your phone, swipe up to the app switcher > swipe Outlook away > reopen Outlook and try signing in again.
4. Update (or reinstall) Outlook for iOS
- Check the App Store for an Outlook update, then retry.
- If still stuck, remove Outlook and reinstall it, then add the account again
- Go to your phone's Settings > Ensure iOS Mail or Outlook app has Background App Refresh enabled.

If the steps above don't work, please feel free to let me know how it goes so I’ll help you further. Thank you for your time and understanding.
