At this stage of the Microsoft 365 setup, you only need to add the DNS record shown in the setup wizard for domain verification, which is typically a TXT record. Adding this TXT record verifies domain ownership and does not affect your existing email service or website.
After the domain is verified, the setup wizard will display the specific DNS records required based on the services you choose to configure, such as MX records for email or CNAME records for Teams and other services. You do not need to add MX, Autodiscover, or SPF records until you are ready to migrate email to Microsoft 365. Email routing only changes after the MX records are updated.
