I have created a MS Form survey and generated a QR code for ease of survey completion for learners. When learners scan the QR code, some are able to access the survey with ease and others are getting an error message with a link provided to click on. The learner is clicking on the link but it is taking them directly into the survey itself. They are then able to amend the survey which I dont want. Can you please advise how to rectify this.

    Dear @Jo Rider,

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Based on your description, you created an MS Forms survey and shared it using a QR code. While some learners can access the survey without issue, others receive an error message and are redirected via a link. When they click this link, it opens the form in edit mode, allowing them to amend the survey, which is not the intended behavior.

Could you please share the exact error message that appears?

Also, please check whether the students who cannot access the survey via the QR code are using the correct education (school) account or their personal account?

Could you please confirm for me that they can amend the survey which mean they can edit the questions or they can edit the responses?

In the meantime, here are some suggestions you can try:

Check the sharing link used for the QR code

Open the form in Microsoft Forms

    Select Collect responses

Ensure the QR code is generated from this section (not from Share > Collaborate)

Regenerate the QR code after confirming the correct link

    User's image

    Ensure edit access is disabled

Open Settings (⋯) in the form

Make sure “Allow responders to edit responses” is OFF

Learners should never be able to edit the form structure itself unless they are collaborators

I hope methods above can meet your expectation, if it doesn't, please leave the comment below so I can support you more effective and we can find the better solutions together to resolve this issue

To address the issue where some learners are able to access and amend the survey after scanning the QR code, you should check the distribution settings of your Microsoft Form. If the setting "Only people in my organization can respond" is turned off, it allows anyone with the link to access the survey, which could lead to unintended edits.

Here are some steps you can take to rectify this:

    1. Review Distribution Settings: Ensure that the setting is enabled to restrict access to only those within your organization.
    2. Use a Personalized Link: If you want to ensure that responses are unique and cannot be amended by others, consider using a personalized survey link for each participant. This link should not be forwarded to prevent unauthorized access.
    3. Check QR Code Generation: When generating the QR code, make sure it links to the correct survey settings that you want to enforce.
    4. Communicate with Learners: Inform learners not to share the QR code or link with others to maintain the integrity of the survey responses.

By implementing these measures, you should be able to control access to your survey and prevent unauthorized amendments.
