I have a Microsoft 365 Subscription for which last payment of $19.99 was completed on 02/07/2026. When I open a password protected Word (.docx) document which I have opened and edited many times in the past, I get a Subscription Cancelled message and can no longer edit. WTF?

    Hello

if you go to your account online and check subscription does it show that it’s active?

then in Word, go to files - accounts, click on update license and then log in again. See if that helps.

If you are receiving a "Subscription Cancelled" message when trying to open a password-protected Word document, it may indicate an issue with your Microsoft 365 subscription status. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem:

    1. Verify Subscription Status: Go to your Microsoft account at https://account.live.com and check if your subscription is still active. Sometimes, even if a payment has been made, there may be issues with the account status.
    2. Sign in with the Correct Account: Ensure that you are signed into the correct Microsoft account that has the active subscription. If you have multiple accounts, this can sometimes lead to confusion.
    3. Update License in Word: Open Word, go to File > Account, and click on Update License. Log in again to see if this resolves the issue.
    4. Check for Multiple Subscriptions: If you have multiple subscriptions or accounts, ensure that you are not inadvertently trying to access the document with an account that does not have a valid subscription.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, consider contacting Microsoft support for further assistance.
