Hello EAPEN JOHN,
Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum!
I understand that you are having issue with OneNote sync. I truly understand how you feel. Let me assist you go through this situation.
I suggest you try this:
Step 1: Protect your data FIRST (critical)
Before doing anything else:
- Open OneNote 2022
- For every section with errors:
- Right‑click the section
- Copy Section
- Paste it into a new local notebook or a new cloud notebook
This ensures nothing is lost if the notebook collapses. This is the officially recommended escape route for c6fem errors.
Step 2: Force OneDrive to accept the content
Create a brand‑new notebook:
- File > New > OneDrive
- Give it a simple name (e.g.
Recovered_Notes)
Then:
- Copy sections (not pages) from the broken notebook
- Paste them into the new notebook
- Wait until you see green sync checkmarks
This works because OneDrive treats it as new content, not corrupted legacy data.
Step 3: Reset OneNote 2022 cache (fixes 0xE000006B)
After copying your data:
- Close all notebooks in OneNote 2022
- Exit OneNote completely
- Go to:
C:\Users\<your-user>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\OneNote\16.0
- Move the Cache folder to Desktop
- Restart Windows
- Reopen OneNote and sync again
Step 4: Open the recovered notebook in the new OneNote
Once:
- The new notebook syncs cleanly
- No red sync errors remain
Open OneNote (Microsoft Store) > File > Open > OneDrive Your recovered notebook will appear automatically.
I hope this will help with your situation. Please feel free to reach back if you have further update or more questions.
