A family of Microsoft spreadsheet software with tools for analyzing, charting, and communicating data
Hi @ZH
Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.
I understand that you are encountering an issue with an Excel file stored in your company’s OneDrive account.
You could try the following steps to recover it:
Check for a “Conflicted Copy”
OneDrive’s sync client is designed to create a backup file when it detects a conflict (local changes vs. newer cloud version).
Open Finder and go to your OneDrive folder.
Search inside it (Command + F) for your file name and the word “conflicted” or “Conflicted copy”.
For example: YourFileName (Conflicted copy 2026-... ).xlsx
If you find it, open both the conflicted copy (your old progress) and the current file, then copy-paste your changes across or save the conflicted one as the new master.
Recover from Excel’s AutoRecover files
Excel on Mac automatically saves temporary recovery versions while you work, even if sync was broken.
In Finder, go to Go > Go To Folder (or press Shift + Command + G).
Paste this exact path and press Return: ~/Library/Containers/com.microsoft.Excel/Data/Library/Application Support/Microsoft
Look inside for an AutoRecovery folder or any files that match your workbook name (they may have .asd or temporary extensions).
Open any promising files in Excel. If Excel detects them on launch, it may prompt you automatically. Save anything you recover immediately with a new name.

OneDrive/SharePoint Version History
This won’t contain your unsynced local work, but you can roll back to any point before or during your colleague’s online edits.
Go to Onedrive (sign in with your company account).
Find the file > right-click > Version history.
Browse the list, open any version, and click Restore if needed.

I hope this helps.
