    Dear chuck molina

Thank you for your question and for sharing the details into Microsoft Q&A Forum.

I’m sorry to hear you’re unable to install Windows 11 after purchasing it. I understand how frustrating this can be, especially when you expected to use it right away. To help narrow down the cause and guide you correctly (including the refund request), could you please share a few details below?

    • Where did you purchase Windows 11? Microsoft Store (digital) / Retailer (box or key card) / Preinstalled (OEM, came with a PC)
    • What is your current Windows version and build? Settings > System > About
    • How are you trying to install Windows 11? Windows Update / Installation Assistant / USB (bootable media) / ISO upgrade within Windows
    • What exactly happens during install and do you see an error code/message? Please share a screenshot or the exact wording/error code (if available).
    • Could you please share the brand and model of your device? Does your PC support TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot?

In the meantime, here are a few basic steps you can try:

    1. Confirm Windows 11 compatibility
    • Press Win + R, type tpm.msc, press Enter
    • Please confirm whether it shows TPM is ready for use and Specification Version: 2.0.
    1. Ensure your current Windows is fully updated (if upgrading)
    • Go to Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates
    • Install all available updates, then restart the PC.
    1. Free up storage and reduce blockers
    • Make sure you have at least 30 to 40 GB free on the system drive (C:).
    • Disconnect non-essential peripherals (external drives, docking stations, extra USB devices).
    • If you use a third‑party antivirus/security tool, temporarily disable it during the installation attempt.

Regarding your refund request, if you would still like to proceed, please confirm where you purchased Windows 11: Microsoft Store, a retailer purchase (box/key card), or OEM (preinstalled with your PC) so I can share the appropriate information.

While my initial response may not fully resolve the issue, I truly appreciate your cooperation as we work together toward identifying the most effective solution. Thank you so much for your understanding.

I hope the steps above help you move forward with installing Windows 11 successfully. Wishing you a smooth experience in getting your device updated and if you still prefer a refund, I’ll share the appropriate guidance once I know the purchase channel.
