When I share a OneDrive link with someone (and the link contains 4 files), do I need to re-share the link when I add more files, or will it update on the recipient's end to reflect the added files?

If the link is to a folder, the recipient will automatically see any new files added to that folder; the link always shows the current contents of the shared folder, so there is no need to re‑share.

If the link is to individual files (not a folder), adding more files elsewhere in OneDrive will not be included in that original link. In that case, a new link must be created and shared for the additional files.

    Hi @Shannon

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.

Thank you for reaching out regarding the OneDrive share link concern. Whether the recipient will automatically see additional files depends on what the original sharing link actually points to: a folder or individual file items.

    1. If the link points to a folder

When you share a folder link, anyone who has permission to that folder will see the folder contents as they change. So if you add more files into that same folder later, you do not need to share the link again. The recipient will see the newly added files when they open the folder link.

    1. If the link points to individual file items

A sharing link is created for the item you selected to share, meaning it is tied to that specific file or that specific folder. If what you shared was not a folder, then adding more separate files elsewhere will not automatically be included. In that case, you would need to share the additional file(s), or place all files into a folder and share the folder so everything is included under one link.
