i paid an overdue invoice this morning for my microsoft 365 subscription. i am receiving emails now but i cannot send any. the error message says

Remote server returned '550 5.7.233 - Your message can't be sent because your tenant has exceeded its daily limit for sending email to external recipients (tenant external recipient rate limit). For more information see https://aka.ms/EXONdrs.'

    Hello

Is your exchange account using the free domain onmicrosoft.com? If so, Microsoft now have set daily send limit for these. If you don't want to have this restriction, you need to add your own domain. You can purchase your domain from anyone, then add it to your tenant, and create an alias for your user with the domain and make it primary.

    Dear @Jammi Palmer,

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A forum.

I understand you're experiencing an issue with Outlook being unable to send emails. Based on your description, it seems your Microsoft 365 tenant has been flagged for exceeding the maximum number of external recipients allowed in a 24-hour period. This means that while your subscription is now active following your payment, the system’s automated protective filters are still restricting your outbound mail to prevent potential spam activity.

The good news is that this issue typically resolves itself automatically as the 24-hour "rolling window" clears. Most users regain full sending capabilities within 24 hours of the last sent message that triggered the limit.

It’s important to note that you do not need to wait a full 24 hours from now. The limit resets gradually as older messages fall outside the 24-hour window. As long as no further mass emails are attempted, your ability to send to external recipients should return to normal by tomorrow morning.

I hope this information is helpful and gives you a clear path forward. If you have any further questions or need additional assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I'm always here to help!

    Have a wonderful day!
