    Dear @Matt Young

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

I understand how inconvenient it can be to set up an email account on a new device, especially when an unexpected error appears.

To help me better understand the situation and assist you effectively, could you please share a few details such as:

1/ What exact error message or error code do you see? If possible, could you share a screenshot? (Please make sure to blur or cover any personal or sensitive information in the screenshot to protect your privacy).

2/ At what point in the setup does the issue occur? For example, does it happen after you enter your email, during the sign‑in process, or after approving the request in Microsoft Authenticator?

3/ Are you using any VPN, firewall, or private DNS settings on this device?

4/ Has this email account worked successfully on any other device before, such as on a Windows computer or another mobile phone?

This will help us better understand the context and provide more targeted support. Any additional information will help us better understand and support you.

There are a few common reasons why a GoDaddy‑provided email address may fail to add in Outlook for Android:

Option 1: If your GoDaddy mailbox is a Microsoft 365 work or school account

Please try the following setup steps:

Step 1: Open Outlook > tap your profile icon > Settings > Add Account > Add Email Account.
Step 2: Enter your full email address and continue.
Step 3: When prompted, choose Work or school account.
    Step 4: Complete the web‑based Microsoft sign‑in.
Step 5: Approve the prompt in Microsoft Authenticator if requested.

If the sign‑in does not complete:

    • Open the Microsoft Authenticator app first to ensure it is running in the background, then return to Outlook and try again.
    • Turn off battery or power optimization for Microsoft Authenticator so it can receive prompts.
    • If your organization requires device management, install the Intune Company Portal when prompted and then reopen Outlook.

If Outlook shows a repeated authentication error

    • Remove the partially added account from Outlook.
    • Update Outlook from the Google Play Store.
    • Try the add‑account process again from the beginning.

Option 2: If your GoDaddy mailbox is a non‑Microsoft IMAP or POP account

(Only use this if you know your mailbox is not Microsoft 365)

Step 1: Open Outlook > Settings > Add Account > Add Email Account.
Step 2: Enter your email address and choose IMAP (or POP3 if required).
Step 3: Open Advanced settings and enter the exact incoming and outgoing server names, ports, and security types provided by your email host.

Please note that IMAP and POP accounts sync email only. Calendar and contacts will not sync using this method.

Option 3: Contact your IT admin

If you are using a work or school account, I sincerely recommend reaching out to your IT administrator to create a support ticket via Microsoft 365 Admin Center > Support > Help & Support for further investigation.

A technical support engineer can perform a remote session to investigate the situation, verify the backend configurations, and run any necessary synchronization tools to resolve the problem. If the issue requires further attention, they can escalate it to a specialized team for deeper analysis.

As community moderators, we kindly ask for your understanding that our access to internal development details is limited. Our primary role is to guide users toward the appropriate resources and support channels. While we may not have visibility into performing deeper backend analysis, we’ll continue doing our best to support you within the scope of our responsibilities.

I hope this information is helpful. If you have any questions or need further support, please don’t hesitate to reach out at any time.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

On a new Samsung phone, Outlook setup errors with a GoDaddy-hosted email are usually caused by either incorrect server settings or a problem with the Outlook app itself.

    Try these steps in order:

    1. Confirm the account type with GoDaddy
      • Check in the GoDaddy account whether the mailbox is Microsoft 365, Exchange, or POP/IMAP.
      • If it is Microsoft 365/Exchange: use the “work or school”/Exchange/Microsoft 365 option in Outlook for Android.
      • If it is POP/IMAP: use the manual setup option and enter the exact incoming/outgoing server names, ports, and security (SSL/TLS) that GoDaddy provides.
      • If unsure of the server settings, contact GoDaddy support; they must provide the correct POP/IMAP or Exchange details.
    2. Remove and reinstall Outlook on the phone
      • Uninstall the Outlook app from the S25 Ultra.
      • Restart the phone.
      • Reinstall Outlook from the app store.
      • Try adding the GoDaddy email account again using the correct account type and server settings.
    3. If still failing, contact the right support
      • For GoDaddy-hosted mail (including Microsoft 365 via GoDaddy), contact GoDaddy support and provide the exact error code shown in Outlook so they can check the mailbox and DNS/server configuration.
      • If the account is a work or school Microsoft 365 account not managed by GoDaddy, contact the Microsoft 365 admin or technical support for that tenant.

If the error persists after reinstalling Outlook and confirming server settings, the mail provider (GoDaddy or the Microsoft 365 admin) must check the account and server configuration on their side.
