Many users seem to have this issue recently. Microsoft is still investigating this issue. The current workaround is published here: https://support.microsoft.com/office/users-get-errors-0x800ccc0e-0x800ccc0f-synchronizing-gmail-and-yahoo-accounts-in-classic-outlook-e5a7b684-7c5c-4848-ab2d-d48291451f67
How do I fix Gmail sync issues. It stopped working after an update.
Outlook is no longer syncing with my Gmail account after an update on 2/27/26. I have verified the account settings, and tried removing/adding the account. Nothing is working.

2026-03-10T03:20:44.13+00:00 Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Q&A Forum. I understand that your Gmail accounts have stopped syncing with Outlook.
Could you please let me know have you tried all the Q&A Assist suggestions? In addition, please try the following:
1. Temporarily disable any VPN or firewall software
Some VPNs or antivirus products (such as Bitdefender, Kaspersky, or Norton) have started blocking Google IMAP OAuth redirects after the February/March update cycle.
- Turn off your VPN
- Temporarily disable antivirus features such as Web Protection or HTTPS scanning
- Restart Outlook
2. Check Windows date and time automatic settings
If the Windows system time is off by even a few minutes, OAuth tokens may fail and Gmail will not sync.
- Go to Windows Settings > Time & language > Date & time
- Turn Set time automatically to On
- Turn Set time zone automatically to On
- Restart Outlook
3. Repair Outlook’s local account profile
If you are using the new Outlook, it may become stuck with a corrupted local profile after an update.
- Close Outlook
- Go to:
%localappdata%\Packages\microsoft.windowscommunicationsapps_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState - Rename the Accounts folder to Accounts_backup
- Reopen Outlook and sign in again
This will force the new Outlook to rebuild the Gmail data and OAuth tokens.
Please feel free to let me know if it works. Thank you so much for your time and understanding.

- Confirm IMAP is enabled in Gmail IMAP must be on or Outlook cannot sync.
- In a browser, go to Gmail.
- Select Settings (gear) > See all settings.
- Open the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab.
- Under IMAP Access, select Enable IMAP.
- Select Save Changes.
- Verify Gmail server settings in Outlook Ensure Outlook is using the correct Gmail IMAP/SMTP settings.
- Incoming (IMAP) server:
imap.gmail.com- SSL: Yes
- Port: 993
- Outgoing (SMTP) server:
smtp.gmail.com- SSL: Yes
- TLS: Yes (if available)
- Authentication: Required
- Port for SSL: 465
- Port for TLS/STARTTLS: 587
- Username: full Gmail address
- Password: Gmail password
- Re-run the Google sign-in and grant full access Recent Outlook builds require a specific consent during Google sign-in. If that box was missed, sync can break.
If using classic Outlook and seeing IMAP or sync errors like:
- “We couldn’t log on to the incoming (POP/IMAP) server…”
- “We weren’t able to set up your Google account with IMAP…”
- Error 0x800CCC0E when synchronizing folders
Then on a fixed build (Current Channel Version 2412 Build 18324.20168 or later):
- Trigger Send/Receive or account setup until the error dialog appears.
- Select the Retry link in the error window.
- When the browser opens to Google, sign in and make sure to check:
- Select what Microsoft apps & services can access: “Read, compose, send, and permanently delete all your email from Gmail.”
- Complete the sign-in.
- If Retry is not available or does not work, use the manual workaround This clears the old Google consent and OAuth tokens so Outlook can request them again.
Step 1: Remove Microsoft apps & services access in Google
- Close Outlook.
- Sign in to the Google account at google.com.
- Select the profile picture > Manage your Google Account.
- In the left menu, select Security.
- Scroll to Your connections to third-party apps & services and select Microsoft apps & services.
- Under Microsoft apps & services has some access to your Google Account, select See Details.
- Under Access you've given to Microsoft apps & services, select Remove all access.
- Confirm.
Step 2: Remove Google IMAP credentials from Windows Credential Manager
- From Start, search for Credential Manager and open it.
- Select Windows Credentials.
- Under Generic Credentials, locate entries starting with
MicrosoftOffice16_Data:OAUTH2. - Expand each and hover over the name until the full name shows
tp_google_imap_Oauth2. - Remove each credential that includes
tp_google_imap_Oauth2(there are typically two per Gmail account).
After both steps:
- Reopen Outlook.
- Add the Gmail account again or let Outlook prompt for sign-in.
- When the Google sign-in page appears, sign in and ensure the permission
- “Read, compose, send, and permanently delete all your email from Gmail.” is checked.
- Finish setup and test Send/Receive.
- If still failing, ensure Outlook is on a fixed build For classic Outlook, the Gmail sign-in and IMAP issues are fixed in newer builds (for example, Current Channel Version 2404+ for the browser sign-in change, and Version 2412+ for the Retry flow). If Outlook is older than these versions, update Office and then repeat steps 3–4.
