We are considering using Team s for our Owners association AGM, at a maximum we could have 100 individual users on a Teams meeting. Do we require an additional license or subscription to enable us to have a such a large attendance

Good day @Graham Althorpe, it’s great to hear you’re considering Microsoft Teams for your Owners Association AGM.

The short answer is no, you don’t need any additional license or special subscription to host a Teams meeting with up to 100 participants. This number is well within the standard interactive meeting limits in Microsoft Teams, where attendees can join with audio, video, and chat enabled.

With commonly used plans such as Microsoft 365 Business Basic, Business Standard, Business Premium, Microsoft Teams Essentials, and Microsoft 365 A1, you can host Teams meetings with up to 300 participants. If your organization is on enterprise or education plans like Microsoft 365 E3 or E5, Office 365 E1/E3/E5, or the equivalent A and G plans, the supported limit is even higher, allowing meetings with up to 1,000 participants.

Since your AGM is expected to have a maximum of 100 attendees, your existing Teams subscription provided it falls under one of the plans mentioned above should cover this scenario without any issues, as long as the meeting is created and hosted by a licensed Microsoft Teams user.

If you’re interested in double‑checking the limits or reviewing other meeting specifications, Microsoft has a detailed and up‑to‑date reference here: Limits and specifications for Microsoft Teams - Microsoft Teams | Microsoft Learn

For a meeting with up to 100 individual users, no additional special license is required beyond the standard Teams offering being used.

Key points from the available limits and subscriptions information:

    • Microsoft Teams Free supports meetings with up to 100 participants and a maximum meeting duration of 60 minutes.
    • Microsoft 365 Personal, Family, and business licenses support meetings with up to 300 participants and a maximum meeting duration of 30 hours.

    So:

    • If using Microsoft Teams Free, a 100‑attendee AGM is within the participant limit, but the meeting is limited to 60 minutes.
    • If using a paid Microsoft 365 or Teams business license, 100 attendees is well within the 300‑participant limit and 30‑hour duration, so no extra add‑on is needed for that size.

If the AGM is expected to last longer than 60 minutes and currently on Teams Free, upgrading to a Microsoft 365 subscription (Personal, Family, or business) would be required to extend the meeting duration, not the attendee capacity.
