I would like to report that uploading files to Sharepoint/One Drive that files are generating clones (e.g., "filename-computername") and that deleted items are restoring, which suggests a Sync Client malfunction. This problem exists since 19 March 2026 and now a Tender Document that I uploaded had double files and items I deleted were also visible although they were deleted before uploading the folders.

This will create major problems for all who uses Sharepoint/One Drive. How soon can you fix this problem.

Regarding your issue, may I kindly ask a few questions to help understand it better?

    • Were the files uploaded via OneDrive sync (File Explorer/Finder) or directly through the SharePoint/OneDrive web portal? It was uploaded directly to SharePoint.
    • Did the issue occur only when syncing locally, or also when uploading from the web? It happened when I uploaded the documents to the folders and it multiplied the documents as well as added the deleted files. This happened on the 19th and 20th March 2026.
    • Before uploading the folder, were the deleted files removed from the web interface or only locally? Only locally before uploading to SharePoint.
    • Was OneDrive showing any sync paused / syncing / error status when the upload happened? Yes it show that 5 files didn't upload and that is when I started investigating to find double entries as well as everything I deleted was back in the SharePoint folder.
    • Are the “restored” files visible in the SharePoint web UI, or only on the local synced folder? No it is visible in the Sharepoint web UI which was created by a Client. Now all those documents are visible that shouldn't have been visible. Which could cost us a contract.
    • Do the duplicate files appear immediately after upload, or after sync completes? Yes it appeared immediately.
    • Are the affected files being actively edited by more than one user? No only one user modified the documents.

This is unacceptable that this would happen as all the files were on a harddrive and uploaded to SharePoint.
