Welcome sam egbayelo,
Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A forum. I am happy to assist you.
I understand you are looking for guidance on how to set up BitLocker and link it to your account on a Windows Home device.
Before moving forward, I’d like to narrow this down a bit to make sure the steps apply correctly to your situation:
- Are you using Windows 10 Home or Windows 11 Home on this device?
- Are you currently signed in to Windows using a Microsoft account or a local account?
In the meantime, you can try the steps to see:
Step 1: Sign in to Windows using an administrator account that is connected to a Microsoft account.
Step 2:
- Windows 11: Settings > Privacy & security > Device encryption (if available)
- Windows 10: Settings > Update & Security > Device encryption (if available)
- If you don’t see Device encryption, open Control Panel, then go to: System and Security > BitLocker Drive Encryption
Step 3: Click Turn on BitLocker to your OS drive
Step 4: Make sure your recovery key is saved to your Microsoft account.
Step 5: Keep the device plugged in and powered on until the encryption process completes.
I really hope that the information I gave above was helpful to you. Please feel free to reply below and let me know if you have further concern on this matter.
