Hi JH
I understand how frustrating this is. On Windows 8, this issue commonly occurs because it does not support modern passkeys or Authenticator-based sign‑in and relies on an older Microsoft account sign-in mechanism.
Since Windows 8 is EOS since 2023, you can still try these workaround:
- Boot into Safe Mode with Networking (hold Shift → Restart → Troubleshoot → Advanced options → Startup Settings → Restart → press 5) and try signing in there. This can allow Windows to resync the account properly.
- If you’re able to sign in, switch the account to a local account and set a local password. This avoids Microsoft account sign-in issues on older Windows versions.
- If Safe Mode also fails, use Microsoft’s account recovery process or reset Windows while keeping your files as a last resort.
Once access is restored, using a local account or upgrading Windows is strongly recommended to prevent this issue from happening again.
Hope this will do!
