Access to the previous Learn profile and its certificates/badges depends on whether there is still access to at least one of the login accounts attached to that profile.

    1. If the old school account still works
    • Sign in to Microsoft Learn using the old school/work account that was used originally.
    • Once signed in, immediately add a personal Microsoft account as an additional login so future school changes do not affect access:
      • Go to your Learn profile → login account management → add login account.
    1. If access to the old school account is lost
    • If that school/work account is the only login on the old Learn profile and it no longer works, access to that profile and its data is lost. Microsoft cannot recover work/school accounts or transfer contents of a Learn profile that cannot be accessed.
    • Contact the school’s IT administrator only if there is a chance they can restore access to the old school account; if they cannot, the Learn profile tied only to that account cannot be recovered.
    1. If there are multiple Learn profiles
    • If there is at least one profile that can still be signed into (for example, a personal account profile and a school profile), they can be merged so that learning progress and certifications are combined:
      • Sign in to the profile that can be accessed.
      • In login account management, choose “add login account” and add the other login.
      • If that login is associated with another Learn profile, a profile merge is triggered and all learning progress and credentials are combined into one profile.
      • Merging cannot be undone.
    1. Certificates and badges visibility in Microsoft 365
    • If badges are visible in Microsoft 365 (for example on a profile card), they are controlled at the issuing platform (such as Credly/Acclaim), not in Microsoft 365.
    • If a badge is missing or incorrect, update it at the source or contact the tenant administrator.

If the old school account cannot be recovered and it was the only login on the previous Learn profile, the certificates and badges on that profile cannot be accessed anymore. For future exams, use a Learn profile that includes a personal Microsoft account and keep that personal account attached so that school changes do not affect access.
