    Hi Dan Paul,

Thanks for your post. I understand you’re having trouble connecting your AirPods 4 to your Windows 11 laptop.

Have you already tried the Q&A Assist suggestions? In addition, here are a few additional checks that may help:

    1. Confirm Bluetooth audio profile is enabled
    • After pairing, go to “Settings” > “Bluetooth & devices” > “Devices”, select your AirPods, and make sure “Audio” (not just “Connected”) is shown. If they appear as connected but no audio profile is active, Windows may not be negotiating the correct Bluetooth profile.
    1. Check Bluetooth adapter capabilities
    • Open Device Manager > expand “Bluetooth”, then right‑click your Bluetooth adapter > “Properties”. If the adapter is an older model, it may have limited audio codec support. AirPods rely on standard Bluetooth audio profiles, but compatibility can vary by adapter hardware.
    1. Temporarily disable Hands‑Free Telephony
    • Some users report connection issues caused by the Hands‑Free profile. Go to “Control Panel” > “Devices and Printers”, right‑click your AirPods > “Properties” > “Services”, and temporarily uncheck “Hands‑Free Telephony”, then reconnect them.

    Hi Dan,

Thank you for posting your question here. Let me help you with this.

To connect your AirPods 4 to Windows 11 open the case press and hold the back button until the light flashes white then on your laptop go to Settings then Bluetooth and devices turn Bluetooth off and on tap Add device choose Bluetooth and select your AirPods. If they do not show up, make sure they are not still connected to your phone nearby or restart Bluetooth on the laptop.

Let me know how it goes.

    Regards,

    Angelique P.

Use these steps on Windows 11 to connect AirPods 4 via Bluetooth:

    1. Run the Bluetooth troubleshooter
      • Open the Get Help app and run the Bluetooth troubleshooter. It will automatically diagnose and attempt to fix common Bluetooth issues.
      • You can start it from this link if available on the device: Run the troubleshooter in Get Help.
    2. Turn on Bluetooth and put AirPods in pairing mode
      • On the PC: select Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices, and turn Bluetooth on.
      • Put AirPods 4 in pairing mode:
        • Place them in the case, open the lid.
        • Press and hold the button on the case until the LED flashes white (pairing mode).
      • Keep the case open and close to the laptop.
    3. Add the AirPods as a Bluetooth device
      • In Settings > Bluetooth & devices, select Add device.
      • Choose Bluetooth.
      • When the AirPods appear in the list, select them to pair.
    4. Remove and re-add if they show but won’t connect
      • Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices.
      • Find the AirPods entry, select More options (… ) > Remove device.
      • Then select Add device again and pair as above.
    5. Check battery and distance
      • Make sure the AirPods have enough charge.
      • Keep them close to the laptop during pairing.
    6. Update Bluetooth drivers if pairing still fails
      • Select Search on the taskbar, type Device Manager, and open it.
      • Expand Bluetooth.
      • Right-click the Bluetooth adapter and select Update driver > Search automatically for updated driver software.
      • Restart the PC when finished.
      • If no update is found, download the latest Bluetooth driver for Windows 11 from the PC manufacturer’s support site, install it, then restart and try pairing again.

If Bluetooth itself is missing or not working after updates, follow the general Bluetooth troubleshooting and driver update steps above until the adapter appears and works correctly, then repeat the pairing steps.
