Hi Dan Paul,
Thanks for your post. I understand you’re having trouble connecting your AirPods 4 to your Windows 11 laptop.
Have you already tried the Q&A Assist suggestions? In addition, here are a few additional checks that may help:
- Confirm Bluetooth audio profile is enabled
- After pairing, go to “Settings” > “Bluetooth & devices” > “Devices”, select your AirPods, and make sure “Audio” (not just “Connected”) is shown. If they appear as connected but no audio profile is active, Windows may not be negotiating the correct Bluetooth profile.
- Check Bluetooth adapter capabilities
- Open Device Manager > expand “Bluetooth”, then right‑click your Bluetooth adapter > “Properties”. If the adapter is an older model, it may have limited audio codec support. AirPods rely on standard Bluetooth audio profiles, but compatibility can vary by adapter hardware.
- Temporarily disable Hands‑Free Telephony
- Some users report connection issues caused by the Hands‑Free profile. Go to “Control Panel” > “Devices and Printers”, right‑click your AirPods > “Properties” > “Services”, and temporarily uncheck “Hands‑Free Telephony”, then reconnect them.
