    Hi anuj bhargava,

I understand how inconvenient it is when your laptop sound isn’t clear and you hear extra noise, especially when you’re trying to use the device normally. Have you already tried the Q&A Assist suggestions? In addition, please try to change the audio format. Sometimes unclear sound or static noise is caused by an incompatible audio format.

    1. Open “Start” > “Settings” > “System” > “Sound”
    2. Under “Output”, select your current sound device
    3. Scroll down and select “More sound settings”
    4. Go to the “Advanced” tab
    5. Under “Default format”, change it to “16 bit, 44100 Hz (CD Quality)”
    6. Select “Apply”, then “OK”, and test the sound again

I recommend to reinstall audio driver, see if it helps.

The best option is to go to the support page for your laptop on the manufacturers website, then from there, download and reinstall (not update) the version of HD Audio drivers and Graphics drivers they provide.

If you have any difficulty locating that support page, click your Start Button, then just type msinfo and press Enter, please provide a screenshot of the resulting System Information window.

Try these steps in Windows 11 to fix unclear sound or extra noise:

    1. Check cables and volume controls
      • Make sure speaker/headphone cables are fully plugged in and not loose.
      • If using 3.5 mm jacks, confirm they are in the correct port (usually green for output).
      • Turn up volume on Windows, speakers, and inside the app (player, browser, etc.).
      • Unplug headphones and test only with speakers to see if the noise changes.
    2. Check the correct output device
      • Select the Speakers icon on the taskbar.
      • Select the arrow to open the list of audio devices.
      • Choose the correct device (laptop speakers or the headphones in use) and test again.
    3. Turn off audio enhancements
      • Select Start > Settings > System > Sound.
      • In Output, select the device in use (speakers or headphones).
      • Scroll to Advanced settings and set Audio enhancements to Off.
      • Test the sound to see if the distortion/noise is gone.
    4. Run the audio troubleshooter
      • Select Start > Settings > System.
      • Select Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
      • In the Audio section, select Run and follow the steps.
    5. Update or reinstall the audio driver
      • Right-click Start and select Device Manager.
      • Expand Sound, video and game controllers.
      • Right-click the audio device (for example, Realtek or Intel) and select Update driver > Search automatically for drivers.
      • If the problem continues, right-click the device again, select Uninstall device, restart the laptop, and let Windows reinstall the driver.

If the noise remains on all devices (speakers and different headphones) after these steps, it may indicate a hardware issue and the device manufacturer’s support should be contacted.
