Bluetooth Icon Missing

Hey guys, I use my Xbox controller to play driving games. It was fine till yesterday, but today, when I was in the middle of playing, my whole laptop decided to lag out, and I had to hard restart it using the power button. After the restart, the Bluetooth button disappeared. It has happened to me before, and the only solution I could find was to reset Windows. But clearly, that is not a permanent solution and takes a lot of time. Any other alternatives? I tried restarting all the services.

My Laptop is a Lenovo LOQ 15AHP10 with AMD Ryzen 7 250 w/ Radeon 780M Graphics

RTX 5050 8GB

16 GB DDR5

    Hi Hanan Latheef,

I can see that Q&A Assist has already shared the initial troubleshooting guidance, which covers the most common causes of missing Bluetooth functionality. I’d recommend trying those steps first if you haven’t already, as they often resolve the issue.

If Bluetooth is still missing after that, here are some additional checks that can help further narrow down the cause and potentially restore Bluetooth without needing a Windows reset:

Step 1: Test Bluetooth with another device

If possible, try pairing a different Bluetooth device, such as headphones, a mouse, or a smartphone.

    • If the PC cannot detect or connect to any Bluetooth device, this helps confirm the issue is system‑level (the Bluetooth adapter itself).
    • If another device connects successfully, the issue may be isolated to the Xbox controller and resetting or re‑pairing the controller would be the next step.

Step 2: Reset BIOS / UEFI settings

A system freeze or forced shutdown can occasionally leave the Bluetooth radio stuck at the firmware level.

    • Restart the laptop and enter BIOS/UEFI (usually by pressing F2 or Fn + F2 during startup)
    • Load Default or Optimized settings
    • Confirm that wireless/Bluetooth options are enabled
    • Save changes and restart the system

Step 3: Update BIOS and chipset drivers from Lenovo

For AMD‑based systems, Bluetooth stability depends on firmware and chipset components.

    • Visit Lenovo’s support site for your exact LOQ model
    • Install any available BIOS updates and AMD chipset drivers
    • Restart the PC after installation

Step 4: Perform an extended power drain

This can fully reset the internal controller that manages wireless hardware.

    • Shut down the laptop
    • Disconnect all external devices and the power adapter
    • Press and hold the power button for 30–40 seconds
    • Leave the device powered off for a few minutes
    • Power it back on and check Bluetooth again

Please let me know the results after completing these steps. I’ll be happy to continue assisting from there.

Use the built‑in Bluetooth troubleshooting and driver repair steps before considering a Windows reset.

    1. Run the Bluetooth troubleshooter
      1. Press Windows logo key+I to open Settings.
      2. Press Tab once, then select System and press Enter.
      3. Move to “Troubleshoot” > “Other troubleshooters”.
      4. Find “Bluetooth”, move focus to it, and choose Run.
      5. Let the troubleshooter complete and apply any fixes it suggests. If it reports the issue is fixed, close it and check whether the Bluetooth icon and toggle return.
    2. Update or reinstall the Bluetooth driver
      1. Press the Windows logo key, type “Device manager”, select Device Manager.
      2. Expand Bluetooth.
      3. Select the Bluetooth adapter (for example, the MediaTek Bluetooth Adapter).
      4. Open its context menu and choose “Update driver” > “Search automatically for updated driver software”.
      5. Complete the wizard and then restart the PC if prompted.
      6. If automatic update does not help, download the latest Bluetooth driver for the Lenovo LOQ 15AHP10 from Lenovo’s support site and install it manually. If the download is an .exe, run it and follow the prompts. If it contains .inf/.sys files, use Device Manager → Update driver → “Browse my computer for drivers” and point to the folder with the .inf file.
      7. Restart the PC and check whether Bluetooth is restored.
    3. Check for Windows and driver updates
      1. Open Settings → Update & Security → Windows Update.
      2. Select “Check for updates” and install all available updates, including any optional driver updates.
      3. Restart the PC and verify whether the Bluetooth icon and toggle reappear.
    4. Power‑cycle the PC to clear hardware state If the adapter still shows Code 45 (“hardware device is not connected”), fully power off the laptop, disconnect AC power, and leave it off for several minutes before turning it back on. This can clear a stuck Bluetooth/Wi‑Fi module state after a hard crash.

If Bluetooth returns but the controller will not connect, remove and re‑pair it:

    1. Open Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Devices.
    2. Locate the Xbox controller under the appropriate category.
    3. Open “More options” for the controller and choose “Remove device”, confirm with Yes.
    4. Put the controller into pairing mode and add it again from Bluetooth & devices.

These steps address missing Bluetooth icons and non‑working adapters without resetting Windows.
