Question

My husband invited me to join his microsoft 365 account but when I try to "join now" it says "looks like this invitation is not working". What can I do to join his microsoft 365? I've tried it on my laptop and my i-phone.

Aside from the suggestion above, make sure you also don't have any subscription on your account by going to https://account.microsoft.com/services page. If you have any subscription even a trial, make sure to cancel it before asking your husband to send the invitation again.

Once you have confirmed everything is good, just follow the steps provided to re-share the subscription.

The error usually means the sharing invitation cannot be used in its current state. Use these checks and steps:

1. Confirm the right subscription
   • Only Microsoft 365 Family or Microsoft 365 Premium subscriptions can be shared. If the husband has Microsoft 365 Personal, it cannot be shared.
2. Make sure the invitation is still valid
   • Invitations must be accepted within 48 hours. If it has been longer, ask the husband to resend the invite from the sharing page.
3. Have the subscription owner resend the invitation
   • The husband should:
     1. Go to the Microsoft 365 Subscriptions sharing page: https://account.microsoft.com/services/office/sharing and sign in.
     2. Select Share.
     3. Either:
        • Use Email invite, enter the email address, and select Invite, or
        • Use Create link, then Copy link, and send that link.
     4. If an invite already exists, he can select Resend invite next to the name.
4. Accept correctly from the new invite
   • Open the new email from Microsoft.
   • Select Get started.
   • On the Microsoft Family Safety site, select Join now to join the family group.
   • After joining the family group, the Microsoft 365 benefits become available.
5. Check family group conflicts
   • If already in another Microsoft family group, it is necessary to leave that group first, then accept the husband’s invitation. Sharing is only possible if the invitee joins the subscription owner’s family group.

If the invitation still does not work after these steps, the husband should remove the share entry for this account on the sharing page and then share again as a fresh invitation.
