Try the following steps in order to recover the lost PowerPoint work.

    1. Reopen PowerPoint and check Document Recovery
      • Start PowerPoint again.
      • If there was a crash or unexpected shutdown, the Document Recovery pane should open automatically.
      • In Document Recovery, select the most recent version of the file and choose Open.
      • If it has the content needed, immediately choose Save As and save it to a known location.
    2. Use AutoRecover / Recover Unsaved Presentations
      • In PowerPoint, go to File > Info.
      • Under Manage Presentation, look for a version labeled (when I closed without saving). Select it and then choose Restore (or Save As if preferred).
      • If the file does not appear there, do this:
        1. Go to File > Info > Manage Presentation > Recover Unsaved Presentations.
        2. Select any file that matches the lost work and click Open.
        3. Use Save As to save it permanently.
    3. Open the AutoRecover folder directly (Windows)
      • In PowerPoint, go to File > Options > Save.
      • Note the path shown for AutoRecover file location.
      • In File Explorer, browse to that folder. By default it is:
             C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\PowerPoint

(Replace <username> with the Windows user name.)
      • Look for recent files in that folder and try opening them in PowerPoint, then save any that contain the work.
    4. For future protection
      • Ensure AutoRecover is enabled and frequent:
        • Go to File > Options > Save.
        • Make sure Save AutoRecover information every x minutes is checked and set the interval (for example, every 5 minutes).
      • Optionally change the AutoRecover file location to a folder that is easy to find and backed up.

If none of the above locations contain a copy of the presentation, there is no additional built‑in recovery method beyond these AutoRecover and unsaved-file options.
