Processes in Microsoft 365 for setting up Office apps, redeeming product keys, and activating licenses.
Hello mark hewett,
I see that you're having Microsoft 365 Activation Issue. I suggest you try these steps:
- Bypass the stuck recurring-billing screen (redeem the key directly)
- Open a browser and go to https://setup.office.com/?source=microsoft365?
- Sign in with the same Microsoft account that already owns your Microsoft 365 subscription (important).
- Enter the 25‑character product key and complete redemption there (this renews/extends the subscription).
The renewal guidance explicitly supports renewing by entering a new product key (separate from turning on recurring billing). For reference: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/how-to-renew-your-microsoft-365-subscription-58f3d0f8-15c4-4ad8-8c5f-16d682e8b545
- Confirm the renewal actually applied to the right account (common cause)
- Go to account.microsoft.com/services
- Check the Microsoft 365 subscription there and confirm the new expiration/renewal status is showing.
If you redeemed the key while signed into the wrong Microsoft account, it may not extend the subscription you expected. Microsoft specifically warns to “always check you are signed in with the correct Microsoft account when redeeming.”
- If the site still forces recurring billing, turn it on from Services (different flow)
Instead of the stuck redemption page:
- Go to account.microsoft.com/services.
- Select Manage on the subscription choose Turn on recurring billing (or Renew/Resubscribe if shown).
This uses the subscriptions management flow (often avoids the hang on the setup page).
- If it’s hanging because payment verification is failing, use Microsoft’s payment fixes
Microsoft notes that banks may require extra verification and that keeping account/payment details updated can be necessary for transactions to succeed. Use:
- Troubleshoot payment option issues
- If you hit a billing block during redemption, Microsoft says to go to your Payment & billing page and use “Change how you pay” / “Fix how you pay.”
Also: when asked for country/region during renewal, Microsoft recommends choosing the country/region where you live or do your banking.
I hope this will help with your situation. Please feel free to reach back if you have further update or more questions.
Best Regards,
