Sending, receiving, and organizing email in Outlook.com
Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.
I understand how difficult it is when you can’t access your accounts, especially when it’s affecting your ability to apply for jobs.
Based on your description, it seems that password reset and verification emails are not arriving in your Hotmail / Outlook.com inbox, even though you’re still receiving regular emails.
Please note that this is a user-to-user support forum. Moderators, contributors including external Microsoft employees cannot directly intervene in Microsoft product features or access back-end systems. Our role is limited to providing technical guidance on reported issues, requests, or ideas only.
Please try the following:
- Check your Junk, Deleted, and Archive folders in case the reset emails were moved there
- Go to Settings > Mail > Junk email and make sure the sender is not listed under Blocked senders (remove it if it is)
- Add the sender’s email address or domain to your Safe senders list to ensure future emails are delivered
- Review Settings > Mail > Rules and temporarily disable any rules that might move or delete incoming emails
- If you’ve requested password resets multiple times, please wait about 30–60 minutes before trying again, as repeated requests may temporarily stop new emails from being delivered
If you still need urgent access, you can also try:
- Selecting a different verification method (such as SMS or an authentication app, if available)
You can also refer to this official Microsoft guide which explains why verification or reset emails may not arrive and what to do in these cases: Troubleshoot Microsoft verification code issues
If the issue continues after these steps, you may need to contact Microsoft Support so they can check your account more closely:
- Go to: https://support.microsoft.com/contactus
- Click Show expanded list of products
- Select Outlook > Get Home support
- Type Outlook live chat in the search box, then select Get Help > Contact Support
- If you can’t sign in to the affected account, sign in with a different Microsoft account to access support options
- Under Products & Services, select Other Products > Outlook, then choose Chat with a support agent via web browser
Please feel free to reply with any updates, and I’ll be happy to support you further.
