Sending, receiving, and organizing email in Outlook.com
Hi Wynne, Taylor,
Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.
For personal account, the main recovery path is the Microsoft account sign-in helper, which is designed to identify the sign-in problem and direct you to the correct next step.
If the issue is that the verification code is not arriving or is not being accepted, Microsoft’s guidance is to try another listed verification method if one is available. Please note that support agents cannot send verification codes, send password reset links, or directly change account details for the account.
If you no longer recognize or cannot access the recovery email/phone options shown, the next official step is with the Microsoft account recovery form process. It is recommended to use the Microsoft account sign-in helper first, then submitting the recovery form with as much accurate account information as possible.
One important note: if two-step verification is enabled and there is no access to any alternate verification method, support cannot bypass that protection.
If this is actually a work or school account rather than a personal Microsoft account, the recovery path is different and the correct contact would be the organization’s IT admin.
Please note that this is a user-to-user support forum.
