Which version are you trying to install? Which operating system do you have?

Note that Microsoft terminology may be ambiguous. For example, setup often refers to "Microsoft 365" or "Microsoft 365 and Office" even if you have a perpetual license.

To complete installation of the correct Office 2024 product (and not Microsoft 365), the wrong edition must be removed and then Office reinstalled from the account where the 2024 license is registered.

    Follow these steps:

    1. Uninstall the Microsoft 365 apps currently installed
      • On Windows: go to Settings > Apps > Installed apps and uninstall Microsoft 365 or any trial/other Office version that was installed instead of Office 2024.
      • Restart the device after uninstall completes.
    2. Sign in with the account that owns Office 2024
      • Go to the Services & subscriptions page at https://account.microsoft.com/services.
      • Sign in using the same Microsoft account that was used to redeem or purchase Office 2024.
      • Confirm that the correct product (for example, Office Home 2024 or similar one-time purchase) is listed there. If it is not listed, check any other Microsoft accounts that might have been used.
    3. Download the correct Office installer
      • From the Services & subscriptions page, locate the Office 2024 product.
      • Select Install > Install on this device next to that product. This downloads the one‑time purchase installer, not Microsoft 365.
    4. Run the installer and complete setup
      • Open the downloaded setup file and follow the prompts to install Office 2024.
      • Wait for installation to finish.
    5. Activate Office 2024
      • Open Word or another Office app.
      • When prompted, sign in with the same Microsoft account used in step 2.
      • In File > Account, the product should show as the Office 2024 edition that was purchased (for example, Office Home 2024 – Product Activated), not Microsoft 365.

If an error appears about 32‑bit vs 64‑bit versions during installation, first uninstall the existing Office/365 installation, then reinstall the desired bitness (32‑bit or 64‑bit) as described in the Office bitness guidance.
