can't join events

I sign up for events and can't get past the registration screen, even though I've already registered. Could it be something my cybersecurity has blocked? Seems odd.

For Microsoft-hosted online events and trainings, repeated “login failed” or being stuck on the registration screen is usually caused by how the event platform recognizes the email/registration, not by local cybersecurity tools.

From similar Azure Virtual Training Day cases:

    • The event platform (for example, ON24) sometimes has a synchronization delay between Microsoft’s registration system and the event provider.
    • In those cases, the event site simply doesn’t find the email in its registration list yet and returns a generic “login failed” or keeps looping on the registration screen.
    • Microsoft support has confirmed that when this happens and the session has already ended, the fix is to re‑register for a future session, after the sync issue is resolved.

    Recommended steps:

    1. If the event is running on ON24 or a similar platform and the login keeps failing:
      • Contact the event platform’s support (for ON24, their support page is used in the referenced cases) and ask them to check whether the email address is actually registered for that specific event.
    2. If they confirm the email is not registered even though registration was completed:
      • Contact Microsoft event/credentials support (as indicated in the referenced cases) so they can check for a synchronization delay between Microsoft’s registration system and the event provider.
    3. If the event has already finished by the time the issue is diagnosed:
      • The usual resolution is to register again for the next available instance of the same event.

Local cybersecurity (antivirus, firewall, etc.) is less likely to be the cause if:

    • The registration page loads normally.
    • The error appears immediately after entering the email (not as a network or connection error).

If there are network/security blocks, symptoms are usually:

    • Page won’t load at all.
    • Browser shows connection/security warnings instead of a simple “login failed.”

If network security is suspected anyway, testing from a different network (home vs. corporate), or from a mobile connection, can help confirm whether a firewall/proxy is interfering.
