Hello, I am a student, and I have the school email. I have tried on my Word document, making Turnitin check my papers, but Turnitin always showed that logging error, and I have tried again later. I have been updating my cookies and deleting the cached data, and I have allowed the pop-up data, restarted my Mac, but the same problem exists. How can I solve this issue?

Contact the IT support at your school. Your admin can report this to Turnitin—and to Microsoft, if necessary.

I think the real cause is word dropping the school‑tenant token after turnitin calls it, so just sign‑out… quit word… open a blank doc + sign‑in clean — quitting is the only thing that resets that broken chain.

    Hi @Issa

Based on the information provided, I understand that you are encountering a persistent "logging error" when trying to use the Turnitin add-in within Microsoft Word on your Mac, despite having a valid school email and attempting various troubleshooting steps.

To help me investigate this further and provide a more specific solution, could you please provide the following details in Private Message for your security?

    • Besides Microsoft Word, are you using your .edu domain to log in to Turnitin on any other platforms?
    • Which version of Microsoft Word are you currently using? (You can find this by going to Word > About Microsoft Word).
    • If possible, could you provide a screenshot of the exact error message?
    • Have you tried using the Turnitin add-in via Word Online (through a web browser)? Does the same error occur there, or does it allow you to log in?

While waiting for those details, you might want to verify with your school's IT department if there has been a recent change to the school's Turnitin integration settings.

Please let me know this information so I can help you get this resolved before your next deadline!

Turnitin login errors in Word are typically caused by issues with browser cookies or sign-in validation in the background. Since cookies and cache were already cleared and pop‑ups allowed, the next steps are:

    1. Ensure third‑party cookies are fully allowed in the default browser that Word uses to sign in (often Safari on macOS):
      • In Safari:
        • Go to Safari > Settings… > Privacy.
        • Under Website tracking, make sure Prevent cross‑site tracking is unchecked.
        • Go to Advanced and ensure Block all cookies is unchecked.
      • If using another browser (Edge/Chrome/Firefox), confirm third‑party cookies are allowed there as well.
    2. If using a Microsoft 365 web app version of Word with Turnitin:
      • Make sure the browser is not in Private/Incognito mode.
      • Confirm that third‑party cookies are enabled as required for license and sign‑in validation.
    3. Sign out and back in:
      • In Word, sign out of the school account.
      • Quit Word completely.
      • Reopen Word and sign back in with the school email account that has Turnitin access.
    4. If the error persists only for Turnitin and not for general Microsoft 365 sign‑in, contact the school’s IT or Turnitin administrator to confirm:
      • The Turnitin integration with Microsoft 365/Word is enabled for the account.
      • There are no institution‑side restrictions or outages.

If the login error is actually appearing in a browser window during Turnitin authentication, repeat step 1 for that specific browser and then try again.
