    Hi @Joe Wells

Thank you for sharing your concerns.

To help me better understand your issue, could you provide additional information for the following questions:

May I know whether the account is managed via Exchange Online, Exchange On-Premises, or another mail hosting service?

Does it show any error code or rejection message on your side?

And does Classic Outlook auto-detect the settings even when you choose “Manual setup”?

Please understand that our initial reply may not always immediately resolve the issue. However, with your help and more detailed information, we can work together to find a solution.

Use Outlook’s built-in account settings tools to change the server details, or recreate the account from Control Panel if Outlook won’t accept the new server.

Try these steps in Classic Outlook for Windows:

    1. In Outlook, go to File > Account Settings > Account Settings.
    2. Select the email account and choose Remove if it is still listed.
    3. Close Outlook.

Then reconfigure using Control Panel (this bypasses some of Outlook’s automation and gives full control over server fields):

    1. Open Control Panel in Windows.
    2. Search for and open Mail.
    3. In Mail Setup – Outlook, select Email Accounts.
    4. On Account Settings, select the account (if it still appears) and choose Remove. Confirm.
    5. Select New to add the account again.
    6. When the Change Account or setup window appears, enter:
      • Correct Email Address.
      • Under Server Information, the new Incoming mail server and Outgoing mail server values provided by the email host.
      • Under Logon Information, the correct User Name and Password.
    7. Select More Settings > Advanced and verify the port numbers and SSL settings match what the provider requires. If unsure, check the provider’s documentation or the POP/IMAP reference at POP and IMAP email settings for Outlook.
    8. Finish the wizard and then restart Outlook.

If the account still will not take the new server information, verify with the email provider that:

    • The account type (Exchange vs IMAP vs POP) is correct.
    • The new server names, ports, and security (SSL/TLS) settings are correct.
    • Any required app password or two-factor authentication code is being used instead of the normal password.
