Using New Outlook on Windows for professional communication and productivity
Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum. I understand that you would like to use both Overlay and Split calendar views at the same time in the New Outlook, so that some calendars are overlaid while others are displayed side‑by‑side.
At the moment, this is not possible in the New Outlook, and I’d like to clarify the current product behavior and limitation.
In New Outlook, the calendar view mode is applied globally to all selected calendars. This means:
- You can choose Overlay view or Split view
- The selected view applies to all calendars you have checked
- You cannot mix Overlay and Split views at the same time
For example, if you switch to Overlay view, all selected calendars will be overlaid. If you switch to Split view, all selected calendars will be displayed side by side. This behavior is by design in the New Outlook experience.
I completely understand how having both options at once would be useful, especially when managing multiple calendars. I personally agree this would be a valuable enhancement.
The best way to request this capability is to submit feedback directly to Microsoft, as product teams actively monitor these requests and often use them to guide future improvements.
You can submit feedback here:
- Visit: Outlook · Community (Feedback Portal)
- Select Send feedback
- Suggested wording: “Allow New Outlook to support mixed calendar views, so some calendars can be overlaid while others are shown in split view.”
Customer feedback is actively reviewed, and many product improvements come directly from these requests.
If you submit feedback, feel free to share the link here. I’d be happy to upvote it, and it can help others with the same requirement support the request as well.
Thank you for your understanding. While this may not be the outcome you were hoping for, I hope this explanation clearly outlines what is and isn’t currently possible in New Outlook.
