Missing onenote feed button

The OneNote feed option (clickable button on task bar at the top right aspect of display) within web-based Outlook was vital to my workflow. This opens a separate frame within the window to jot notes while emails or the Outlook calendar are displayed. One random day the icon disappeared and became replaced with a Teams chat icon which was not present before. There is no setting that allows me to change the buttons. I've worked with my employer IT department who had no access to adjust what appears. My colleagues still have access to their one note feed button.

What can I do to retrieve my one note feed access??

    Hi @Mewar, Manas,

I hope you are doing well.

Thank you for your patience while this was being looked into.  After verifying on my end, the OneNote feed button is also not appearing in Outlook on the web. This appears to be a change that Microsoft is rolling out to some users, where the OneNote feed icon on the toolbar has been replaced with a Teams Chat icon. This change is not affecting all users at the same time, which is why some people may still see the OneNote feed button while others do not.  At this time, there is no available setting to bring the OneNote feed button back, as this is a server-side update managed by Microsoft. As an alternative, you can still access your Sticky Notes through the Notes folder located in the left sidebar of Outlook on the web.

Since this change is impacting your workflow, I recommend submitting feedback directly to Microsoft via the Feedback Portal to help prioritize this feature in future updates.

In Outlook on the web, the OneNote feed is surfaced through a dedicated OneNote feed icon on the main Outlook toolbar near the upper-right of the browser. When selected, it opens a task pane showing recent OneNote pages, Sticky Notes, and (optionally) Samsung Notes associated with the signed-in account.

Because the feed is tied to the account and not to a per‑user toggle in Outlook settings, the main things to verify are:

    1. Confirm the correct account is signed in
The OneNote feed only shows notes associated with the same Microsoft work/school account used for syncing notes.
      • Sign out of Outlook on the web.
      • Sign back in with the same work or school account used in OneNote/Sticky Notes.
    2. Check that the feed still works for the account via other endpoints
The same feed is also available in OneNote itself:
      • Open OneNote for the web or the desktop OneNote app.
      • Make sure the same work/school account is signed in.
      • Select the Open feed icon near the top-right of OneNote to open the Feed pane and confirm notes appear.
If the feed opens and shows notes in OneNote but the icon is missing only in Outlook on the web, this indicates a UI/rollout or tenant-level change specific to Outlook on the web rather than a problem with the feed or account.
    3. Compare with colleagues’ environment
Since colleagues still see the OneNote feed button:
      • Confirm that everyone is using the same Outlook on the web experience (same URL, not a different region or preview build).
      • Confirm that everyone is signed in with the same type of account (same tenant, not a guest or secondary account).
    4. Use OneNote feed from OneNote as a workaround
Until the icon returns in Outlook on the web, the same feed content can be accessed from OneNote:
      • Open OneNote (desktop or web).
      • Use the Open feed icon to keep the Feed pane visible side‑by‑side with Outlook in a separate browser tab or window.

If the icon is still missing only for this mailbox after confirming the same account and comparing with colleagues, the behavior is likely due to a service-side or UI change specific to that account or tenant. In that case, escalation through the organization’s Microsoft 365 administrator to Microsoft support is required, since there is no client-side setting in Outlook on the web to customize or restore that specific toolbar icon.
