    Hi Kayla Harris,

I hope you're doing well today.

Error code 0x80070070 pops up when Windows cannot allocate enough disk space to complete an installation process.

You can try the following steps to clean up your device before installation

    1/ Use Disk Cleanup Tool:

Run Disk Cleanup to remove temporary files, system cache, thumbnails, and previous Windows installations.

Type cleanmgr in Run (Win + R) > Select system drive > Choose files to delete.

    User's image

    2/ Uninstall unused programs:

Go to the Control Panel > Programs and Features and remove applications you no longer need.

    3/ Clear Temporary Files:

Open Command Prompt as Administrator and run:

    del /q/f/s %TEMP%\*

    Note:

    • Ensure no important files are stored in the Temp folder before running this command.
    • Some files may not be deleted if they are currently in use by running applications.

    4/ Remove old restore points:

Open System Protection > Click Configure > Choose Delete to remove old restore points.

    5/ Use Storage Sense:

    • Go to Settings > System > Storage
    • Enable Storage Sense to automatically delete unused files, temp files, and old downloads.

6/ Move files to external drive or cloud:

Transfer large personal files such as videos, images, or backups to an external drive or use OneDrive/Google Drive.

    7/ Contact Microsoft Customer Support:

Since your device is managed by an enterprise environment, there may be restrictions in place based on your organization’s configuration. If the issue persists even after freeing up disk space, the most effective next step is to contact your IT administrator and ask them to use their admin credentials to submit a support request through the Microsoft 365 Admin Center on your behalf.

Microsoft also provides customer service phone numbers based on your region. Your IT admin can find the appropriate contact number here: Customer service phone numbers - Microsoft Support

This route ensures that a Microsoft support engineer can initiate a remote session to investigate backend configurations, run advanced diagnostic tools, and, if necessary, escalate the case to specialized teams with access to internal systems and logs. These backend resources are essential for resolving issues that go beyond what’s visible in the user interface.

As community moderators, we’re here to guide you, but due to privacy and security limitations, we don’t have access to the backend tools required for a full resolution. For this reason, contacting Microsoft Support via the Admin Center is the most secure and efficient way forward.

In case you do not know who is your IT admin, kindly refer to this article: How do I find my Microsoft 365 admin? - Microsoft Support

I hope this helps you resolve the issue quickly. I’m glad to assist and truly hope the information provided has been useful. Please feel free to reach out anytime if you need further assistance.

Error code 0x80070070 indicates that there is not enough disk space on the system drive for the operation being performed. To fix this when reinstalling OneDrive, increase free space on the operating system disk and then retry the installation.

    Follow these steps:

    1. Check free space on the OS disk:
      • Open File Explorer.
      • Right-click Local Disk (C:) and select Properties.
      • Confirm how much free space is available. The OS disk should have at least 20 GB of free space for best results.
    2. Free up disk space:
      • Uninstall unused apps.
      • Delete or archive files that are no longer needed.
      • Move large files (videos, ISOs, archives) to another drive or another computer.
    3. If more space is still needed:
      • On a virtual machine, extend the operating system disk.
      • On a physical PC, consider using an external drive during Windows updates or large installs. See Updating Windows using an external storage device (from the referenced article) if applicable.
    4. After freeing sufficient space, run the OneDrive reinstall again.

If the error persists even after ensuring enough free space, collect Windows servicing/update logs as described in the Windows Update troubleshooting article and contact Microsoft Support.
