I have a Microsoft subscription that should transfer to my new laptop but has not transferred. Can you help?

Since you have a subscription version of Office, you can always install on multiple devices. Start your new laptop and go to https://account.microsoft.com/services . Click the Install button and follow the instructions.

To use a Microsoft 365 subscription on a new laptop, install and activate it on the new device rather than expecting it to transfer automatically.

Follow these steps on the new laptop:

1. Go to https://www.office.com.
2. Sign in with the same Microsoft account that owns the Microsoft 365 subscription.
3. Select Apps on the left.
4. In the upper-right corner, select Install apps.
5. When the installer file finishes downloading, run it and complete setup. This installs the desktop versions of the Microsoft 365 apps tied to the subscription.

If the subscription is Microsoft 365 Family or Premium and is owned by someone else (for example, a family member), that person must first share the subscription with the new user account. After accepting the sharing invitation, sign in on the new laptop with the invited Microsoft account and then install as above.

If the subscription is Microsoft 365 Personal, it can be installed on multiple devices, but only for the subscriber’s own use. In that case, sign in with the subscriber’s Microsoft account on the new laptop and install.
